Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the virtues of family football scholarship and volunteering for the community. The first line of his family was that Selmon is the eldest of the nine children raised by Eufala by Lucious Selmon. A second reason was he is the youngest of three brothers to play for Oklahoma. All three became All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in across the country. For three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. They also won the national title twice. A third scholarship saw him named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon obtained a degree as a teacher. Fourth service In the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. After graduating Lee Roy moved to Tampa where he spent 9 years with the Buccaneers. 3 times he was named All-Pro. Then he began his business career. By 1988, he became an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated him as one of the top 10 young men across the nation. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 6-2. When he was playing college, he commanded the team of 1975. In 1993, he was a part of his current position at University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame by his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as in the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
